Sell the laptop and buy another one that fits your needs, what’s the big issue here? If the laptop was a gift; you can do with it as you please. If you cannot do as you please - it was never a gift to begin with; but a means of oppression. And, should you really give a crap about the feelings of a person that doesn’t give a crap about your feelings? Just do as you please, people will bend or break accordingly.

Start using a decimal to mark decimal places for a start. Poor grammar may be a matter of someone using his second or third language but math is a universal standard and using a decimal is kinda important since it is called a decimal place instead of a comma place.
