Solid performing hitch mount bike rack
I bought this based on other reviews and the price. I've owned Yakima racks and others. I needed a receiver hitch mount rack to hold a townie bike with 26" wheels and a 29r mountain bike. Hauled the two bikes from Colorado to California with no problems. 29r was stolen off the rack (thieves cut through the heavy-duty cable) the night I got to Eureka. Bought a Priority bike with 700 wheels, put a rain cover over bikes and drove through rain for a week's journey to California down Hwy 101. The Swagman held up beautifully, still using it. This rack works great, folds down when not using it so you can get into truck bed, does not sway and overall a fantastic buy.

Excellent carrier with best Value Possible.
Highest quality bike carrier, easy to assemble and install on vehicle, and holds bikes very firmly while traveling. I am a mechanical engineer and recognize solid construction and quality merchandise when I see it - This Swagman bike carrier is excellent and comes highly recommended by me. Viewed negative comments and cannot agree. When properly assembled and easily installed, it is a very strong and solid carrier.

Highly recommended Bike Rack!!
I decided to purchase this style of bike rack after searching the internet high and low for all different types of bike racks. To be honest I couldn’t be happier with this purchase and this style of bike rack, it is easy to use, holds the bikes securely, and safely. The reason I decided to go with the Swagman brand is because it is a very good value compare to other brand bike racks on the market that offer the same thing this rack does. Don’t pay hundreds of dollars more for a product that will do the same function! Pros: The first good thing about this product that comes to mind is the construction quality of this rack. It is built strong, stable, and built to last. I was surprised when I first received this rack at the sturdiness of it. The second good thing about this rack is the ease of installing it to you vehicle, it takes maybe 5 minutes to “install” or “remove” this rack from your vehicle. Very easy and straight forward on how to do this, basically you slide the rack into your received hitch, and then you insert the threaded bolt through one side of your receiver hitch and then push it to the other side and begin threading it into the other side. I will then general take a wrench and snug up the bolt, then place the cotter pin through the end if the bolt and you are done. The third good thing about this rack is how easy it is to load and unload the bikes from it. It takes literally 1 minute to unload 2 bikes from this rack, and then you are ready to ride. No having to install your front tire, or lift the bikes up or down from the top of your car or the bed of your truck, nope your simply release the tension on the bike and then remove it from the rack. Cons: The only thing I dislike about this rack is that it has to be folded down to access my tailgate when it is installed to my truck. And with bikes on the rack you are ether out of luck or you have to removed your bikes from the rack to access the tailgate. Overall this is not a huge deal and I think the benefit the rack provides far outweighs this small issue. Overall: I have been using this bike rack for 2 or 3 years now and have not had any issues at all and have never had a bike come loose, fail off, or anything like that. I ride just about every day and the trailers I ride are about 10 miles from my house so I have to load the bike up every time I want to go ride. That being said I don’t want to have to mess with lifting the bike on top of my truck every day, and I also don’t want to have to remove the front tire every single day. That is the biggest selling point for me with this rack is that I can load my bike on it in basically seconds, put a Masterlock on it so it is safe and secure and then I’m ready to go ride!! I can promise you that you won’t be disappointed with this purchase and it is a very nicely constructed rack that functions awesomely well!! Perfect rack for people like me who ride every day and don’t want to have to take the bike apart after each ride.

Confident, stable and safe way to transport bikes.
I was looking for a fool proof way to transport our bikes, this was the solution. I read reviews and came away with 2 minor concerns, the bikes falling off and the upper arms scratching the bikes. I ordered straps with the rack and wrapped the arms in cloths. Honestly the straps are unnecessary to hold the bike onto the rack, there is no way for the bikes to fall off but I put them on the first couple trips. The hoop design is the way to go as the weight of the bikes is on the wheels. The upper arm comes down locking the bike and wheels into the hoops. Taking the bikes on and off takes only a moment. Confident, stable and safe way to transport bikes. Folds up for easy storage. Love it!

Wow! for my RadRover eBike
Wow! ..as a tool guy who also welds and could build one: ... I am Impressed w the design and quality to cost. ...No way for a DIYs to beat this purchase! Very nice sleeve to make rack fit 2" or 1/14" trailer hitch receiver. you do need a trailer hitch on your vehicle to use this rack. I am loading a 62 plus lb fat tire RadRover ebike on my new rack. I spread one set of those metal loop tire holders with my car jack (using cardboard to not chip the paint seal) to make the 4" eBike tires fit (pictured). I noticed after purchase the load limit is two 35 lb bicycles. I believe this rack will function properly for me with just my one eBike. I've included a picture of how I use a cross bar on eBike, pipe insulation to protect bike paint job, and both slide down bike holders plus a strap to really secure my new eBike to this ride. I take the pack off rack when driving my eBike to local Lake Park trail heads.I will remove the 48 volt battery pack when heading out on longer rack and then eBike trips. .... I had small issue which I called Swagman's Warranty phone number about. ... I found myself impressed with that too! I am a happy camper on this purchase. ... Plus

This thing is a game changer!
I’m so glad I finally tried this thing out. It is a game changer! It’s so easy to mount the rack and get your bike on and off. It’s sturdy and well worth the money. It’s much easier to mount a bike to the outside than the spot closer to the trunk. That takes a little more careful maneuvering. I used some extra Velcro straps just to be on the safe side. I also sprayed some WD40 on the hitch mount to help with any resistance taking it off or putting it on. Warning: there is definitely a little bit of a learning curve with this, but once you use it a few times, you’re golden! The only downside I’ve found so far is that I bought an awesome looking mechanism and it won’t fit through the bike rack hitch. The diameter of the hitch is too small in diameter. Thanks to another reviewer, I know what I can do to improvise.

lightweight, well made and easy to use
I purchased this rack 4 years ago this month. I myself believe this to be a capable and reliable carrier. It is lightweight and well made. It looks exactly like the picture. I wont be able to really add anything new to the enormous amount of reviews, except maybe give you some better pictures of it so that one can maybe make their own decision on the construction. I will say that once the top clamp is pulled down onto the bikes top tube, it probably wont go anywhere, but I still use a strap to hold the wheels to their metal loops. I only use the rack for one bike, so it weighs only 21 pounds in that configuration. When it's not on the car it's folded up and carried easily in one hand.

Solid Rack, Easy To Use
This is first review of the hitch and rack after assembling and mounting to the car. Good solid construction. Takes abut 30 min to assemble and install. All materials are solid, no cheap stuff. Bike mounts easily. Solid hold on the bike. Will continue this review after riding around with bikes on the car. Great ride, no sway at the hitch junction. Bike is SECURELY mounted to the carrier. As always, I add a safety strap just in case as anything' can happen. Just got back from a 3400 mile trip with two bikes in the carrier. Not a single problem while bouncing on the road from Fl to Ct and back. I highly recommend this rack for the ease of getting bikes on and off and the security. No that I have had if for quite some time, I am very happy with it. It is a GOOD IDEA TO MAKE SURE THE CLAIMS ARE TIGHT AND WHEELS ARE IN THE RECEPTACLES. For safety sake, I use a bungee cord on both bikes to make sure nothing happens, The mechanism has holes for a lock to be inserted to prevent theft or use a regular bike lock.

Awesome bike carrier!
Received my Swagman bike carrier a few days ago and already used it twice, I couldn't be happier! I don't even need my husband's help I'm a senior in my late sixties! It's well build and super easy to put together, load the bikes and in and out of the hitch. Bikes are held firmly and will travel securely without any bounce at all! Happy camper, highly recommended!

Really nice design. Easy to assemble and it's not too ...
Really nice design. Easy to assemble and it's not too heavy. Very steady. It holds the bike very well. I was a bit worry that it wouldn't hold my two 26" beach cruisers, but it did in a perfect way. The attachment to the car has an R latch, I would suggest to replace it with a lock. The hitch lock screw can be easily taken out and people might steal the rack and the bikes all together. I bought 3 locks from harbor freight for 4 bucks and now I am happy with everything. Initially, I bought a Master Lock Receiver Lock from Amazon for 13 bucks. None of the lock could fit into the hole because it's threaded for the screw and it's smaller than 1/2 inch. I ended up spending less on the lock and get it working perfectly. Nice job.
